Our 2023 parade was Oakland Chinatown's first Lunar New Year Parade in more than 50 years, and we aim to continue that tradition. We're working to make 2025 an even more special event! Bring your enthusiasm, come dressed in your most festive outfits, and support the community!
Join us after the parade for an exciting street festival in the heart of Oakland Chinatown! Enjoy shopping from local small businesses, delicious food from our diverse lineup of food vendors, cultural performances, and DJ sets that will keep the energy high throughout the afternoon. Plus, don’t miss Seiji Oda, our main act, who will keep you grooving all afternoon. Don't miss out on this vibrant celebration of culture and community—stay with us for a day of fun, food, and entertainment!
The Year of the Snake begins January 29, 2025 and lasts until February 16, 2026. The snake symbolizes power, nobleness, honor, luck, and success. People born in the Year of the Snake tend to be charismatic, intelligent, and ambitious.
The Chinese zodiac runs on a twelve year cycle. Those born in the years 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025, and 2037 have the snake as their zodiac symbol.
Thank you to everyone who applied to participate in the Oakland Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Night Market! We are excited to announce that the participant application is now closed. We appreciate your interest and look forward to celebrating with all of you at the event!
Pick your spot! The Parade will begin and end at WILMA CHAN PARK. There will be plenty of opportunities to cheer on the participants. There isn't a bad place to watch the parade, but here's a map, just in case you want to stake out your spot.
