PRESENTED BY San Leandro Hyundai, a Carnamic Car Center
Our 2023 parade was Oakland Chinatown's first Lunar New Year Parade in more than 50 years, and we aim to continue that tradition. We're working to make 2025 an even more special event! Bring your enthusiasm, come dressed in your most festive outfits, and support the community!
The Year of the Snake begins January 29, 2025 and lasts until February 16, 2026. The snake symbolizes power, nobleness, honor, luck, and success. People born in the Year of the Snake tend to be charismatic, intelligent, and ambitious.
The Chinese zodiac runs on a twelve year cycle. Those born in the years 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025, and 2037 have the snake as their zodiac symbol.
You can watch the parade, but wouldn't it be better to take part? We welcome interested organizations to join us in the parade. Show your support and join us on this momentous occasion!
Want to be part of the parade in another way? We would appreciate your assistance with the parade. We are looking for volunteers to help make this a success. Volunteers can help set up parade route, help out with monitoring parade, and making sure we leave it spic and span. Please fill out the form below to join us and make this event one for history books! Contact us at info@ocic-ca.org if you have any questions! Click the button below to sign up to volunteer. Thanks!
*Mandatory Volunteer's Zoom Meeting on February 19, 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Sign up today to receive important meeting information!
SPONSORSHIP
Thank you to all our 2024 sponsors:
Sutter Health, DoorDash, Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities, California Waste Solutions, and Bank of the Orient. The 2024 LNY parade's artistic support is made possible by the
City of Oakland, Cultural Funding Program.
OCIC is looking for additional partners to help us continue this tradition. As we work to make this event bigger and better, we are seeking partners who share our commitment to revitalizing Oakland’s Chinatown. By committing your resources to be a sponsor for our Lunar New Year Parade, we all benefit from an increasingly vibrant community. For sponsorship information please contact Tony Trinh at tony.trinh@ocic-ca.org.
Pick your spot! The Parade will begin and end at WILMA CHAN PARK. There will be plenty of opportunities to cheer on the participants. There isn't a bad place to watch the parade, but here's a map, just in case you want to stake out your spot.
